Kingston, Jamaica

Arriving in Kingston is normally not the airport to land in when going to the majority of resorts in Jamica. Montego Bay should be the location you are wanting to land with more flights and options during the peek and off-peek times.

Kingston is an option for those visiting family or requiring to land in that location.

Fun-loving couples who want a "no problem" getaway will revel in happy-go-lucky Jamaica. The third largest island in the Caribbean, Jamaica is easy to reach, economical, and blessed with a bevy of sports and natural offerings as well as a thriving nightlife. Surrounded by the bright blue sea, the "land of wood and water" has six mountain ranges, 120 rivers, 200 miles of beaches, 25 indigenous bird species, 3,800 flowering plants -- 720 of which are unique to Jamaica -- and over 500 types of ferns.

places to see

Montego Bay: Located near the airport on the northwest side of the island, "MoBay" is perfect for golf getaways and short vacations. You can pack a lot of window shopping, beach bumming, and rum punches into a short period of time.

Ocho Rios: Garden strollers and nature lovers should make the trip from the airport to Ocho Rios, called "Jamaica's Garden," where you'll find awe-inspiring waterfalls, tropical flora, sugar plantations, and quaint fishing villages.

Port Antonio: Called the "most exquisite port on earth," Port Antonio is a less-developed seaside gem on the northeast side of the island near where jerked cooking was invented, and The Blue Lagoon was filmed. Need we say more?

Negril: Legendary for its hedonistic happenings, this once-sleepy secret on the west coast is out. The main draws here are the beautiful Seven Mile Beach, cerulean sea, glorious sunsets, and miles of colorful reef.

Kingston: Although Bob Marley's homebase is culturally rich, we don't recommend Kingston for vacationers, unless you seek the roots of reggae (visit the Bob Marley Museum) or a starting point to the spas and hikes in the beautiful Blue Mountains. Kingston is the captial of Jamaica. If you are visiting family in Kingston, there are flights offered directly from Toronto.

December to April. Rain (called "liquid sunshine") is common, especially in October.

One of the largest Islands in the Caribbean, Jamaica is as relaxed as it is beautiful. Canadians have a love-affair with this island for many years. Perhaps it's the turquoise waters, the reggae beat, the laid back ambiance or perhaps it's the white sand beaches, but mostly it's a combination of them all.

Jamaica is a great vacation destination with great weather.

If you are vacationing to Jamaica, we recommend other locations on the island such as Negril, Montego Bay, or Ocho Rios, Runaway Bay or Whitehouse

Golf in Jamaica

Golf - The Cinnamon Hill Course at the Rose Hall Resort and Spa is situated on what used to be a large sugar plantation. Jamaica's past history is still present throughout the golf course in the form of graveyards and ruins of old homes. One of these homes, which can be seen from the second hole of the golf course, is the historic former house of Annie Palmer who was called the "White Witch of Rose Hall." The golf course's layout begins fairly open but gradually moves into the lower elevations of the Blue Mountains, where there is dense foliage guarding the fairways. The Cinnamon Hill Course at Rose Hall is not only popular for its lush landscape filled with historical sights, but also for its challenging game.
