Ixtapa
Ixtapa is a resort area created and built in the 1970s on a vast coconut plantation and twinned with Zihuatanejo, a coastal fishing village that has developed with hotels and private villas over the years. Tap into what locals call the ‘Grand Coast’ and its flavour of life with various attractions and activities from snorkelling, surfing and fishing to modern city life in Ixtapa with its main beach, Playa el Palmar, stretching gloriously for three kilometres.

Tour Ixtapa Island: take a tour to the manmade island and give yourself a day of paradise. Enjoy multiple beaches, wildlife reserve and its beautiful waters with underwater explorations.
Costa Grande Archaeological Museum: discover some of the history of the region with several exhibit rooms illustrating human evolution from prehistoric to pre-Hispanic eras, according to findings from 54 archaeological sites and settlements discovered nearby and along the Costa Grande.
Playa Linda: visit this beautiful beach with a family-friendly atmosphere and featuring a path for cycling and inline skating along the marina.

Have a fiesta – Ixtapa’s nightlife has something for everyone, since it offers Mexican fiesta shows, bars with romantic music and discos to suit every taste. During the high season some of the major hotels arrange a Mexican Fiesta Evening one day a week, which begins at approximately 7 p.m. with a sophisticated dinner-buffet, live folk music and regional dances.
